What’s the deal with GearWrench Tools? Some people love them, and some people hate them, I personally love them, so I am going to take a minute to give you a few highlights and a few comparisons, as well as links to some of my favorite GearWrench products.
Sockets are amongst some of the most valued items in a technician’s toolbox. They are the go to tool to get the job done, and if they are not a quality tool then it can be a pain in the ass to get things done efficiently.
In my career as a technician I have gone through a lot of different sockets. Snap-On and Matco were always my sockets of choice, I always kind of ignored GearWrench since I thought the lower price meant lower quality, boy was I wrong! I decided to grab a set of GearWrench mid-length sockets after I found them on Amazon for under 30 and the Snap-On rep quoted me $270 for the same size set. I decided to take the plunge and try out the GearWrench set and they turned out to be amazing quality. I actually have started to replace all my missing Snap-On sockets with different GearWrench sets, at this point it is just pointless for me to keep paying the ridiculously overpriced Snap-on prices when I can get the same quality for just a fraction on the price.
Here are some links to a few socket sets that you can check out:
I personally use the GearWrench mini and regular length ratcheting wrenches, and they work great. No issues with any as of yet, and I’ve been using them for about 4 years now. Regular wrenches I still use my Snap-On flank drive wrench sets, as they have always held up to some tough working conditions and I have not had any strip/break on me yet.

GearWrench makes tools in almost all categories, they even make specialty tools. From what I have seen they all hold up very well under pressure, and quality differences are not very noticeable when held up compared to a lot of the more major brands.
I would advise everybody give GearWrench tools a chance if you want a great quality tool without having to completely empty your wallet to get it! Let me know if you have any questions about a specific product and I would be happy to check it out and give you my opinion!
